Mother's Day!

After church while we were eating lunch, Frau Kirn brought over flowers that had been delivered that morning.  Steffi and Dietmar had sent a very unique heart-shaped arrangement! Love the mix of daisies and roses and the colors; plus the little orange "accents" are very cute.

The flowers and calls from kids made my day!  Otherwise, after church we were chauffeuring Zach around to all his obligations - school theater practice (he's Shakespeare's Romeo) from 11:30 a.m. til 1:30 p.m., then getting him to the meeting place for the ride to Gmünd to play in the orchestra for the musical "Peter Pan".  (Jon Thomas was the organizer and conductor for the orchestra.)  The final performance was at 3:00 p.m., but Zach didn't get home til around 9:30 p.m.  The cast and orchestra were "chillin'" afterwards, and yet another group of people for Zach to say "good-bye".

While Zach was relaxing and chilling with his friends, I decided to move ahead on his hippie outfit.  This Monday was "hippie" day for the seniors.  (Tomorrow is to dress up in a way representing one of his majors - Zach's choosing the black/black of musicians - and on Wednesday he's wearing a suit, but I'm not sure of the theme for that day.)

True to a mother's role, I rummaged around and found this "heirloom" T-shirt left (long, long ago) by one of his siblings.  I slit the side seams on a pair of old, threadbare Banana jeans (a brand that was non-existent to the counter culture), and sewed in an insert of stars and stripes.

Thanks to Helen and Freya for the idea of a headband!  Originally, he had on flip-flops, but because of the cold, he packed those in his school bag to put on at school, and added the jacket for warmth.

The flowers are lovely. Zach's a little scary looking. Great outfit!
